You're about 30 minutes from cold water. Here's the whole process.
1. Pick the Spot
- Flat, level surface rated for ~1,400 lbs (375 lb unit + 125 gallons of water)
- 12 inches of clearance on the chiller side — it needs to breathe
- Good drainage nearby for water changes
- Within reach of a dedicated 110–120V, 20A GFCI outlet (per national electrical code, the circuit must be dedicated)
- Indoors or outdoors — both work year-round
These are heavy, wide units — we confirm doorways, gates, and the path in with you before delivery. If you need a longer cord than the one included, use a heavy-duty outdoor cord rated for the full 20A circuit. No daisy chains, no light-duty cords.
2. Fill It
With the unit unplugged, fill the tub with a garden hose to the etched fill line. Takes about 10 minutes.
Before you plug in: confirm the valves near the filter are open so water can circulate. Closed valves will burn up the pump.
3. Plug It In
That's the on switch. There isn't another one — by design. If it's plugged in, it's running, and the pump is meant to run 24/7. Constant circulation is what keeps your water clean and your pipes freeze-proof.
You should hear a smooth, quiet hum. That's the sound of it working.
4. Set Your Temperature
On the control panel: press and hold Set, adjust to your target, release to lock it in.
- New to cold: 50–55°F
- Comfortable: 45–50°F
- Seasoned: mid-40s and below
Give it time to pull down to temperature on the first fill — it's cooling 125 gallons from hose temperature.
5. Dial In the Underglow
The LED underglow runs on a programmable timer — set it so the plunge glows when you use it and rests when you don't. Brightness cycles from the control panel.
Your First Plunge
Before: Rinse off first — every time. Skin oils, lotion, and sunscreen are what dirty plunge water and clog filters. A 30-second rinse doubles your water's life. If you wear shorts, make sure they're free of detergent residue. Castile soap is the plunge-friendly choice.
During: Breathe slow and steady — the breath is the whole practice. Never hold it. Stay calm, stay loose, and get out when your body tells you to. Start with 1–2 minutes.
After: Close and lock the lid. It holds your temperature, keeps debris out, and keeps the water safe from curious kids.
The Two Rules That Protect Your Pump — and Your Warranty
1. Never run it dry. Water must be in the plunge before you ever power it on. The pump is cooled and lubricated by the water flowing through it — running it dry burns the seal in seconds and ruins the pump.
2. Never let it sit full and unplugged in freezing weather. The unit runs 24/7 — continuous circulation is what keeps a full plunge freeze-proof. A full unit left unplugged in a freeze will freeze and break.
The warranty covers defects, not damage — these two habits mean you'll never need to know the difference.
Safety, Plainly
Cold water is a real stressor — that's why it works, and why it deserves respect. Talk to your doctor first if you're pregnant, have heart or blood pressure conditions, or take circulation-affecting medication. Don't plunge alone. Don't plunge under the influence. If shivering turns into confusion or slowed breathing, get out immediately.
