Cold Plunge Warranty & Service

Built by Hand. Backed the Same Way.

Every Nightjar Cold Plunge is welded, plumbed, clad, and tested in our Grand Rapids shop before it ships. We know every unit by build number, and when you call, you reach the people who made it. That changes what a warranty means — and it means we can be completely straight with you about what's covered, what isn't, and why.

Limited Warranty

Component Term
Stainless steel tub 10 years
Aluminum frame (powder-coated) 10 years
Chiller 2 years
Circulation pump 2 years
Ozone system 2 years
Electrical components & controls 2 years
Craftsmanship — cedar cladding, finish, joinery 2 years

Ten years on the tub and frame because ten generations of building these taught us they don't fail. Two years of craftsmanship coverage means if our work has a defect — a stain that fails, a board that separates, a seam we should have caught — we make it right, free.

This limited warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship under normal use, beginning on the delivery date, for the original purchaser. If a covered component fails, we will repair or replace it at our discretion.

Defects vs. Damage — The Honest Version

A warranty covers things that fail. It doesn't cover things that get killed. The difference matters, and we'd rather explain it before you buy than argue about it after:

The pump is the clearest example. Your circulation pump is cooled and lubricated by the water flowing through it. Run it dry — empty tub, closed valves — and the seal burns up in seconds. That's not a part failing; that's a part doing exactly what physics does to any pump without water. It's why the manual says it twice in bold: water first, valves open, then power. A pump seal destroyed by dry running isn't a warranty claim — but we'll still fix it, fast and at a fair charge.

Same logic for the cedar and lid. If our craftsmanship is off, that's on us — covered. If the lid gets punctured, the cedar gets dented, or a dog treats the corner as a chew toy, that's damage, not defect. We'll gladly repair it — that's actually a perk of buying from the shop that built it, because we have your exact cedar, your exact stain, your build sheet — but repairs of damage are billed work.

What This Warranty Doesn't Cover

Damage caused by the following is not covered — not as fine print, but because each one physically destroys equipment in a way we can explain:

  • Running the pump dry — burns the pump seal in seconds (see above)
  • Freezing while unplugged — still water freezes; expanding ice splits pipes and housings. Plugged in and circulating, the unit is built for winter. Unplugged and full in a freeze, damage is a matter of time. (Shutting down for the season? Drain fully — takes 20 minutes with the included pump.)
  • Salt water, Epsom salts, or water additives — salt and additive chemistry attack stainless steel, seals, and the chiller's internals. The system is engineered for fresh water and our published protocol. No salt systems, no magnesium flakes, no essential oils.
  • Neglected maintenance — where the failure results from it (e.g., a filter left clogged for months starves the pump and ozone system — a documented, preventable chain; see the Maintenance Guide)
  • Misuse, sharp objects, and animal damage — punctures, gouges, and chew marks
  • Modification of plumbing, electrical, or the preset ozone valve, where the modification causes the failure
  • Freight damage not noted at delivery; normal weathering of natural cedar (it silvers beautifully, or you re-stain it)

Not covered doesn't mean abandoned. Whatever happened, we'll still diagnose it, still ship you parts, still repair it — at a fair charge instead of free. You'll never be stuck with a dead unit and a shrug. We built it; we can fix it.

This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights which vary from state to state.

30-Day Satisfaction Guarantee

Plunge in it for 30 days. If it's not what you wanted, we'll take it back — no interrogation. Return freight and a 25% restocking fee are the buyer's responsibility (these are 375-lb hand-built units on freight; being straight about that cost is part of being straight with you). Units must be drained and in original condition; custom stains are non-returnable. Refund issued after inspection at our shop.

How Claims Work

Email dave@nightjarsauna.com with photos and your build number. Most issues are diagnosed on the first call and solved with a shipped part and a walkthrough — the mechanical bay is designed so you or any local spa tech can do the swap in minutes. Anything bigger, we make right.

What Keeps Coverage Simple

  • Pump stays plugged in and running (24/7 by design)
  • Water in the tub before power, valves open — always
  • Filters changed per the Maintenance Guide
  • Fresh water only, cared for per the Water Guide

No mandatory service subscriptions, no maintenance-logging portals, no gotchas.
