Outdoor Saunas in Grand Rapids

Nightjar builds outdoor saunas and cold plunges right here in Grand Rapids. Our shop is at 1175 Burton St SE, in a building that used to make concrete grave vaults. Now it's 16,000 square feet of cedar, steel, and a crew building about two saunas a week.

When you buy a Nightjar in Grand Rapids, the people who build your sauna are the people who deliver it, set it, and answer the phone when you have a question.

Why Buy Local

  • We walk your site in person. Before your build starts, we come look at where the sauna will sit, how it gets there, and where the power comes from.
  • Neighbor delivery. Grand Rapids and West Michigan (within about 2 hours of the shop) is our Neighbor tier, starting at $400. Our crew delivers and places it, no crane needed. That covers Grand Rapids, East Grand Rapids, Ada, Rockford, Grandville, Holland, Muskegon, Kalamazoo, and Lansing.
  • Service from down the road. If something needs attention, we're a short drive away, not a ticket queue.
  • Come see it built. You can see the saunas going together in the shop before you buy. Book a call and we'll set it up.

What We Build

Every sauna is outdoor-only, built from Michigan white cedar on a powder-coated aluminum base, with an IKI stove and Finnish stones. More on how we build for Michigan winters.

No Sales Tax on Your Sauna

A Nightjar sauna or cold plunge is a permanent home improvement. We pay the tax on materials, so you don't pay sales tax on top.

Common Questions

Do I need a permit in Grand Rapids?

It depends on your city or township and your lot. Call your local building department early. We'll give you dimensions, weights, and electrical specs for whatever they ask.

What electrical do I need?

Most of our saunas run on a dedicated 240V, 50A circuit (the Petoskey needs 30A), installed by a licensed electrician. The cold plunge needs a standard dedicated 20A GFCI outlet. Details are in our Delivery & Installation guide.

How long does it take?

About 10 to 12 weeks from deposit for a sauna, and 6 to 8 weeks for a cold plunge.
